When toddlers finally age to children, they will go to school and also have to do homework. From childhood on there are many more things a sim can do then what they were able to do as toddlers. They are not able to cook "real food" in the kitchen yet, so watch out and let an adult or teenage sim "serve a meal". They are able to get a snack out of the fridge though, or, if you have a children's oven, they can make themselves muffins.
