Class performance is gained by earning skill levels and doing class work in their [[Majors|major]]. Each major consists of eight classes, one class per semester for a maximum of eight semesters i.e. four years (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior).
If a Sim's grade is too low, they will be put on academic probation, and will repeat the semester. If they fail the semester again, they will be expelled. If they do well they can get on the Dean's List, which is often a major [[Wants and Fears|want]] for [[Knowledge]] Sims.
For each major, each semester has a minimum requirement in three [[skill]]s. A Sim will not be able to reach the maximum class performance if they do not meet or exceed that requirement in all three skills. The minimum class performance needed to avoid probation increases each year. During Freshman year, a Sim can gain just enough class performance to avoid probation if they meet or exceed the requirement in any one of the three skills. After that, a Sim who does not meet or exceed the requirement in at least two of the three skills will not be able to gain enough class performance to avoid probation.
