Instead, they include a Design tool that allows the player to change the recolor of an existing object, but do not allow for other forms of customization, such as being able to add custom colors using a color wheel. In ''[[The Sims 2]]'', changing the color and pattern of a pre-purchased object cost §15 and two channels of an object (like the bedding and the base for beds) can be altered independently. In ''[[The Sims 4]]'' changing the color doesn't cost a thing, but the tool only features one channel of redesigning.
