In ''The Sims 4'', Sims can have a date when they have a good enough romantic relationship with another Sim. Dates can be started from their phone, or by selecting their romantic interest and selecting to ask to go on a date from the Romantic section. The player must select a location for the two to date at. Sims cannot date on other Sims' lots. Dates in ''The Sims 4'' act like social events and have rewards at the end.
