According to her memory, Earl is Olive's first love as well as the first fiancée. Earl was engaged to Olive, but he left her at the altar on the wedding day, which can be seen in the [[Specter family]] photo album. He then died soon after.

Earl died young due to electrocution, and the circumstances surrounding his death are often thought of as a murder done by Olive for breaking her heart.  Earl's grave can be found in the cemetery on Olive's lot. Earl has a brother named [[Tim Lee DeMise|Tim Lee]], who also mysteriously died on Olive's lot due to electrocution, not long after Earl's death.
