Richie looked over at Lilith. She looked close to tears. It wasn't like Lilith to cry- she had a strong character, but Dirk meant so much to her- two years they had been together. "Now what?" Lilith asked, trying to keep her voice normal. "We run. Fast." replied Richie
"She'll get there before us! You don't get it, do you?" Before Lilith could argue anymore, Richie darted off.
Anger filled Dirk's face. "Why is Richie better than me? I mean-" There was a knock at the door. "Angela- you hide! This'll be her." Dirk opened the door, "Yes?"
Lilith gulped. "Hey Dirk! I was just wondering if-"
"I've heard about your move on Richie"
"Dirk, you know that wasn't that-"
"Why is he better than me? What? Tell me! Is it because he, I dunno, because he protects people? What? Seriously-"
"Shut up Dirk" Lilith said quietly. "I have no idea what Angela's told you, but I can tell you she's freaked out at the moment. I can honestly say nothing is going on between Richie and I, OK?"
Dirk shut up "Look... Lilith... I'm really sorry I didn't believe you... it's just... I've got a lot on my mind at the moment..."
"Such as?" Richie emerged from the bushes.
"Richie!" exclaimed Dirk "You look awful!"
"Thanks. Where's Angela?"
Dirk looked at his feet. "Inside..." Angela came up to Richie, fury in her eyes slowly fading. She slowly walked up to Richie, then gave him a tight hug "I'm so sorry Richie! I didn't- I couldn't- I...." She stopped "Will you forgive me?"
"Of course, Angie" They all looked at Dirk. "You were saying?"
Dirk thought "Errr, oh yes! Remember when I went to Strangetown with my dad? Well, he has a friend called Pollination Technician #9 Smith. He's an alien and...
