Eventually, Maggie is finally told about Karissa's relationship with Jared from Karissa herself. She and Lawrence both tell Karissa that they already knew before yelling at her. Maggie says that Karissa is too young to be dating someone, but Karissa just argues back before storming away. The next day Maggie meets Jared. However, she is yelled at by Karissa when she is rude to Jared. Later, after dinner, Maggie tells an uninterested Karissa that she and Lawrence will be attending a costume party for Spooky Day.
On Spooky Day, Maggie dresses up as a cleaning maid. Along with Lawrence, she shows her costume to Karissa before they leave for their party. She and Lawrence stay out all night and when they return home, they are unaware of the party that Karissa threw.
