VanPyre the Vampire, Part 2

It took me a while to get over the original shock of being bitten. But now, as I became fully aware of my surroundings, I noticed Brigit was kissing me. We stayed that way for a while, her warm lips pressed against mine. She had wrapped her arms around my neck, and I had unconsciously wrapped mine around her waist. There we sat, for five, ten, fifteen minutes. Then, finally, I was the one to pull away.

"No need to say thanks," I said.

"Sorry," she replied.

"Don't be," I said. "This was my choice, anyway." So I gave her one quick kiss on the cheek, and smiled. "Shouldn't you be going?"

"Yeah, I guess I should," she said, returning my smile. Then, she got up, brushed herself off, and was at the corner of the street in less than a second. She waved goodbye, and I waved too. I felt the blush spill into my cheeks, and the rain pitter-pattered on the steps. I went inside, and decided to call the only other person I could trust besides Brigit.

Nisha picked up on the first ring. "Calling so soon? It's only been an hour."

"Yes, Nisha, I know. Trust me."

"Anything in particular you want to talk about?" she said. "I know you wouldn't call me unless its something serious, considering that we're barely acquaintances."

"Only five minutes," I replied. "And yet you already know me so well."

A staticy laugh answered me back on the other end of the line. "Well? I'm waiting..."

"I've been bitten," I answered.

"Well, then, welcome to the undead, Pierce," she said dryly. "Anything else?"

"Nope," I responded. "That's about it."

"Alright then Pierce," she said. "I guess I'll see you around sometime." Then the line went dead.

"Yeah, you too," I say, to nobody in particular but myself. And then, it hits me.

I'm going to become a vampire.
