Sims Floors

Concrete floor in The Sims 2

A floor tile is an item in build mode that covers the floor of a building. Tiles can be placed on terrain, a foundation, or on or beside supports such as a wall or column.

There are several types of floor tiles: tile, linoleum, stone, masonry, carpet, and wood.

Floor tiles can also be used to create flat roofs. It can be created, either automatically via a button under Roof section of build mode or manually by placing and dragging floor tiles above a room. Just like with roofs, it's important to cover the weather-exposed rooms (that don't have any roof of sorts) with flooring, in order to protect inside environment from the elements.

Ceiling

A ceiling (from beneath) is a part of a house that separates the roof from the room, or one floor from another. Visible ceilings were introduced in The Sims 2: Apartment Life expansion pack and from there onward continued in later games. Before that, ceilings were assumed to be present, but were not visible. Ceilings are also visible in The Sims 2: Pets (Console).

In The Sims 2: Apartment Life and The Sims 3: Ambitions, the player can change the ceiling to be whatever pattern of flooring they wish.
