I just ordered the Sims 2 game and it crashes each time I try to choose a neighborhood to play in. I find this odd because I've had this game on the same laptop just last week and it worked just fine on Windows 7 even though it wasn't compatible to it. I had to buy a new game because the other cd is broken. I've changed the compatibility mode and everything. - Hi, are you still using Windows 7? ~ Waikikamukow (Talk) 22:43, January 2, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, but I used a patch and everything got wiped out before I could start playing, nothing was saved.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Tokyorose09 (talk • contribs) 00:01, January 3, 2016 (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~
- This page suggests that if you've downloaded a Sims2Pack file (custom content) that is incompatible with the game, it will cause it to crash (check the first reply).
- Another way that I've read can fix this problem is by going to the Control Panel > Device Manager > Display Device, which will then show the graphics card. Right click on it and select 'Update Drivers'.
- Also, you could try deleting any of the groups.cache, accessory.cache and/or neighborhoodmanager.package files in the Sims 2 folder on your computer. ~ Waikikamukow (Talk) 09:32, January 3, 2016 (UTC)
I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game and everything is back but it still crashes when I choose a neighborhood. Is there a way to make the game play properly with Windows 7? I've already had this exact game with Windows 7 and it worked with no problems.--Tokyorose09 (talk) 22:12, January 3, 2016 (UTC)
- Glad to hear that you've got your save games back! I would now suggest backing up those files, in case something goes wrong while trying to get The Sims 2 to work. This just means you should copy the folder to another part of the computer (such as the desktop).
- This blog post appears to have a great response, so I would try it and see what happens. You could also just search up "how to make The Sims 2 work on Windows 7" on google to find the best tutorial. I haven't ever played TS2 with windows 7, so I'm not really sure if any of the information I've given you is actually useful. I hope it is, though! ~ Waikikamukow (Talk) 00:01, January 4, 2016 (UTC)
I've used that site numerous times and it didn't help. But thank you for helping, I appreciate it.--Tokyorose09 (talk) 00:50, January 4, 2016 (UTC)
