We already have a pretty good idea of how worlds and neighborhoods work in The Sims 4, so I don't think this requires us waiting until the game release. Oasis Springs and Willow Creek are worlds, and both of them have smaller neighborhoods with up to five lots in each neighborhood. The "worlds"/"towns"/"neighborhoods" in The Sims 3 are not subdivided formally, but they are larger than those neighborhoods in The Sims and The Sims 2, and are notably much more open than in TS or TS2. -- <font color="navy">LostInRiverview</font> <font color="green">talk</font> ~ <font color="green">blog</font> 15:56, August 7, 2014 (UTC)

I'm definitely in support of using the terminology preferred by the creators wherever possible on this wiki. I know "worlds" for TS3 refers to, for example, Appaloosa Plains, while "town" would be used in the game launcher to describe what type of world it is, and "neighbourhood" is occasionally used in the supplementary material to describe smaller, undefined areas within the world that are usually divided along the lines of geographical proximity (but often used by the creators to imply the economic or social status of the inhabitants, for instance). My point being, all three words have definite uses in TS3, and "world" would seem to be the appropriate one to use in the equivalent situation to "neighbourhood" in TS1/2, when referring to the largest area you can see loaded on screen at any one time. If they're calling them "worlds" in TS4 as well, and having smaller, more clearly defined "neighbourhoods" within them, I'd support doing the same, even if TS4 worlds differ from those in TS3.
