Forum:Team Fortress 2 server
I wasn't sure where to put this without sounding spammy but seeing as it's a game which is off-topic to the purpose of The Sims Wiki, I've decided to put it here.
With the knowledge that there are a few users here who like the free-to-play game, Team Fortress 2, I've started up a server which can be used by members of The Sims Wiki. You can connect by typing steam://connect/208.115.203.76:27015 into your browser's address bar or manually via Steam's server client.
The intent for formulating a dedicated server came from a mixture of personal desire, mutual interests and a couple of users saying in our recent survey (which is still up btw) that they think more could be done with TSW's Steam group, with TF2 popping up as a suggestion.
The server is using vanilla game assets based on the wide annoyance of servers jacked up with modifications. At the time of writing there is only one server instance due to hardware limitations which is currently locked on the koth_harvest_final map, so if anyone wants to change then they'll have to bring up an in-game vote. I may consider bringing in a second server for this provided that there is enough uptake as well as personal circumstances. As this is an unofficial thing, the rules of the wiki don't apply on the server despite the hostname mentioning TSW but please try to keep things civil.
If anyone who doesn't already own the game is interested and worried their computer can't run it, well if you can run The Sims 3 then this will run even better. :P
So come join, spread the word and bring your friends as there are no requirements needed to be able to join other than a Steam account. I've even registered the server with Valve so you may even bump into some new faces. 24 players max at the moment though.
