Changing names

City Hall, a place where you can change your sim name in The Sims 3.

Many times in The Sims series, players will end up wanting to change their Sims names. Maybe they spelled it wrong, maybe they changed their mind. Here is a tutorial on how to change an unwanted name.

The Sims 2

By cheating

1. Open the console menu by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + C.
2. Type in "boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true" without the quotes.
3. Hold SHIFT and click a Sim. A menu will appear.
4. Choose "Spawn" and select "Tombstone of L and D."
5. After it appears, click on the tombstone and another menu will appear.
6. Choose "Rename Sim" and a text box will appear.
7. Type in the new name of the Sim.

Without cheating

• This way of changing names requires SimPE.

1. Open SimPE.
2. Click "Neighborhood Browser," and choose the neighborhood your Sim lives in.
3. After the files open up, click on "Sim Browser," and look for your Sim.
4. After the Sim files open up, look at the two text boxes in the plugin view. The first one is the Sim's first name, and the second is their last name.
5. Click on either text box and change it to the name preferred.

Notes

• The way of changing names by cheating can be very dangerous if not done properly. If done wrong, it can kill Sims, slow the game, and even corrupt the game. If you are not familiar with Boolprop, or do not want to go through that big of a risk, please change the names using SimPE.

The Sims 3

1. Select the Sim with the name you want to change.
2. Go to map view.
3. Go to City Hall between 8am and 6pm.
4. Once your Sim is there, click on the City Hall and choose "Change Name." A text box will appear.
5. Write the preferred name in the text box.

Note: If you want to change a baby, toddler or childs name select the parental guardian instead of the baby, toddler or child.

1. With Generations installed, you can use the testingcheatsenabled cheat to directly access the CAS menu and change the name. Beware, for it will reset the age just like the wardrobe bug in the older versions of Ambition. It is not available for Occult sims.

You can also change a sim's name by holding shift and clicking on them, and selecting the create a sim button to edit anything about them, even if it is not your active sim.

Sims 3 (With Cheats)

1. Select the Sim with the name you want to change.
2. Turn on testingcheatsenabled true.
3. Then, shift click your sim.There will be an option to change the Sim in CAS.
4. There you go! You actually don't even have to select the Sim you want. Just shift click anyone! It works.
