Unlike in the past, outdoor trashcans can be moved around without <code>[[moveobjects]]</code> cheat. A Sim, for unknown reason, with or without the [[Slob (The Sims 3)|slob]] trait may rummage these trashcans or dumpsters. Just like in ''The Sims 2'', the player can also direct a Sim to rummage on command. Sim's that rummage will have their [[ hygiene]] decrease. With the upgraded intuitive [[inventory]] system, players can manually dispose recyclable by clicking and dragging the item to the container. Oddly enough, plates and bowls can also be thrown away this way.
