}}The trash chute appears in the communal areas of most premade apartment lots. It does not need to be emptied, and can be placed inside apartments or even on regular residential lots. As such, the trash chute can technically replace all other garbage cans and trash compactors, including the outdoor trash can. Unlike fireplaces, the trash chute does not occupy any space behind the wall it is placed on. Sims will typically use the trash chute if it is closer than the outdoor trash can.

The Sims 4
Trash cans in the Sims 4 consist of the smaller Wastebaskets, intended for indoors and temporary trash storage, and the bigger Garbage Cans, intended to be placed outdoors. A Garbage Can is required to empty a wastebasket. Wastebaskets take up a 0.5x0.5 square whereas garbage cans take up a 1x1 square and require extra space to access them.

Sims who are Angry or Tense, as well as those with the Erratic trait can kick trash cans, leaving behind a pile of trash next to the bin. This, however, is only possible with the Wheeled Trash Bin, the Adurable Plastic Trash Bin and the Trashe Cann.

Sims with the glutton trait can rummage through trash cans for food.

|You have an antique Mahagony brunch table, a china closet full of Old Vases, and a cellar larger than many people's apartments. With all this luxury, why wouldn't you want to give your trash an any less dignified resting place. This waste disposal basket is made of timber salvaged from the wreck of the Colossus and the bag is woven of the mustaches of only the richest tycoons. Truly, this is the waste receptacle of kings.

|The Refuse Abuse

The Refuse Abuse screams no more, figuratively, with its wide gaping garbage maw and its intricately decorated sides reminiscent of a well-crafted Renaissance clock. Think tick tock as you toss your trash in the Refuse Abuse!
