'''Gardens''' are one of the main uses of a yard in ''The Sims'' series. They usually contain [[plant|harvestable plants]] or decorative plants, like trees, flowers, or bushes, waterwhich streamsare andoccasionally framed by [[fence]]s. Other types of decoration that can be used are [[pond]]s, rocks and certain types of decoration from the [[buy mode]], like the [[scarecrow]]{{Vgversion|TS:U}}{{Vgversion|TS2:S}}{{Vgversion|TS3:S}}{{Vgversion|TS4:S}} or the [[wishing well]]{{Vgversion|TS2:S}}{{Vgversion|TS3SE}}{{Vgversion|TS4RGS}}.
 
There are two types of plants: Decorative and harvestable.
 
==Decorative plants==

Decorative plants arecan be bought from the [[Buildbuild mode]]. They can be trees, bushes and flowers.

Harvestable plants were first introduced in ''[[The Sims: Unleashed]]'', in form of crops, and returned in ''[[The Sims 2: Seasons]]'', with the addition of orchard trees, ''[[The Sims 3]]'' and then in ''[[The Sims 34]]'' . When harvested, they will give vegetables.produce, Theywhich can be treessold in [[Old Town]]{{Vgversion|TS2TS:SU}}, in the [[Supermarket]]{{Vgversion|TS3}}, on the spot{{vgversion|TS2:S}} or bushesbe consumed.

They require more care than decorative plants, but there are the same actions (pulling weeds and watering the plant). The produce can be sold in [[Old Town]]{{Vgversion|TS:U}}, in the [[Supermarket]]{{Vgversion|TS3}}, on the spot{{vgversion|TS2:S}} or consumed.
