For placing audio files inline, the [[MW:Extension:OggHandler|OggHandler extension]] allows a <code>|noicon</code> parameter which removes the info button and only shows the play button.
An inline audio file looks like this:
[[File:Example.ogg|noicon]]
You can find many ogg converters on the net to convert excisting audio tracks into eg. Ogg Vorbis. The Sims Wiki recommends [http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Audacity] but cannot offer any support for this program.
