Your Sim can also own a large bird, small bird, squirel, womrat, mouse, iguana, geko, anole lizard, turtle, snake, or fish to take care of but not controll. There are also stray cats lost dogs and wild horses in the game that your sim can adopt. There is also a unicorn that pops up now and then. Your sim can also adopt that too.
 
Only adult pets can get pregnant, elder males can make an adult animal pregnant.

Pet deaths have their own unique cinematics. A dog's death will result in the Grim Reaper throwing a stick and the dog fetching, while a cat is thrown a ball of yarn. Pets also have their very own [[Gravestone#The Sims 2|gravestones]], and a special memory is also added when a pet dies.

All animals have unique ways of dying, a cat will die with the grim reaper throwing a mouse, a dog with the grim reaper throwing a dog toy, and a horse with the grim reaper throwing hay.
 
All animals have unique grave stones.
 
Stray cats lost dogs and wild horses will also die eventualy and get a grave stone. Ther other stray animals will surround them along with everyone on the lot as they die.
