In ''The Sims 2'', unlike most other life states, they do not have any special abilities or properties, other than their appearance. Technically, mannequins are merely Sims with pale gray skin. The mannequin skin tone is hidden in [[Create a Sim#The Sims 2|Create a Sim]], and can only be unlocked by using [[testingcheatsenabled]] cheat and enabling the [[Create a Sim#Debug Mode|CAS debug mode]].
 
Mannequins can have a custom eye color (a pale brownish gray color) which can only be accessed in Create a Sim debugging mode by selecting the [[Alien]] skin tone, selecting the black alien eye color and then selecting the mannequin skin tone.

The game technically doesn't have mannequin babies. When female mannequins are pregnant and they're in labor, the game will crash. There's [http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=292423 a mod] to prevent the crash and enables mannequins to safely give birth a mannequin baby.
 
Like aliens, mannequin skin tone is always [[Genetics|dominant]]. So if a normal Sim has a baby with a mannequin, they're much more likely to inherit the mannequin skin tone. If a mannequin has a baby with an alien, there is a 50% chance that they will have pale gray mannequin skin.
