This has been the imaginary place where ghosts live in the Sims games. Although it hasn't been shown since the Sims 3, it has started since the game began. In the Sims 3, once a ghost has become playable it has an option to return to it's unplayable state. The game is supposed to turn the deceased Sims into a suspended state until the game randomly decides to let them into the world again, unless the player has the choaspaintingmod from ModtheSims and does this manually. Once a Sim is a playable ghost, they will live on their afterlife until they become an elder and return due to old age (they don't die again, but the game says that they are unstable to live on in the living world.) They can undo this by eating life fruit, but eating ambroisa will bring them back to life.

In The Sims 3, once a ghost has become playable the player has the option to return to it's unplayable state by select their tombstone and click "Return to the Netherworld".
