The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4 all allow teens to take a part-time job. In The Sims 2, elders who re-enter the workforce after retiring or quitting their adult career can only work part-time jobs, with the same advancement levels as teens. In The Sims 3, young adults, adults, and eldersolder can also take the same part-time jobs as teens, but will be unable to hold a full-time job or register as self-employed while they hold a part-time position. In The Sims 4, only teens can hold part-time jobs.

This is useful for Sims attending school as it does not interfere with their school schedule. Older Sims can take part-time jobs too. They pay less per hour, but have fewer hours overall, so they are not as time-consuming as full-time jobs. All part-time jobs only have 3 levels, and Sims cannot retire from part-time jobs, so they will not receive pensions.TS3
