Rummaging through trash usually isn't worth the drop in hygiene. However, it is possible to find a rock worth §3000. It may be a solution if your sim's economy crashes after moving in (after furnituring and building the structure of the house if you bought a vacant lot) as the few first pays may not be sufficient. it is also a requirement in the Law Enforcement and the Journalism careers.

List of items found in the trash

  • Teddy Bear
  • Rubber Duck (also can be found through fishing)
  • Trash (most common find)
  • Unknown Seed (Common - Special)
  • Newspaper
  • Bubble Bath (also can be found through fishing)
  • Rock
  • Metal
  • Gem
  • "Flopped" Books
  • VR Goggles

Note: Journalists can also find information on sims, that live in the house, by rummaging through their trash. This can be used to write a story about that sim.

Sims in the Law-enforcement Career have the same ability, except they write up reports. A cleaner alternative is to question the sim, however, it may take longer to build a friendship with the sim without a high enough charisma skill, as sims that are questioned and aren't the questioner's friends may be offended.
