Magic and spell were introduced to SimCity in Makin' Magic. The premise is simple: after Sims have collected a few ingredients or reagents, they can be combined to create a useful spell. Of course, some ingredients are harder to obtain than others, and that means some spells are difficult to produce. And, there is the fact that adults can only cast some spells, whilst children can only cast others.

First of all, you'll receive a magical box from a guy called the Mystery Man. Inside the box there are few basic ingredients, and some starter's equipment, including a spellbook and a wand charger. You also get a free wand and 35 MagiCoins. You can look up spells in the spellbook and see what ingredients you need for each spell. Once you have obtained all the ingredients for a particular spell, you can place them all in the wand charger. You can then charge up your wand and cast a single shot of the new spell. You will get more and more ingredients throughout the game, although many require you to buy them using MagiCoins, which can be obtained by performing simple tasks in MagicTown and duelling with others.

Some ingredients need to be placed inside the EverAfter Crafter, which create charms. You will get more and more ingredients throughout the game, although many require you to buy them using MagiCoins, which can be obtained by performing simple tasks in MagicTown and duelling with others.
