Gaining higher talent badges usually grants Sims more options of what to create on the crafting benches, and lowers the likelihood of failure. It also reduces the time needed to perform the activity. This is particularly important for cashiering, as customers may get annoyed if they have to wait in line too long.
 
Talent badges can also be obtained through the use of cheats. Players can spawn the "Badge Juicer" cheat object using the [[testing cheats]], which can be used to add or remove talent badges from Sims..
Using ''boolprop [[testingcheats]]enabled on'', utilizing '''badge juicer''' cheat object (identified as a toy boat) is another way to attain a specific badge of a certain talent. It can be spawned (after entering the cheat) by shift-clicking on any Sim, selecting "Spawn..." -> "Badge Juicer". Apart from changing setting and removing a badge or increasing its level, an information box of Sim's current badge details can be viewed in a single window.
