Due to the failing marriage, it was possible Don tried to get Bella to cheat on him (mostly due to the marriage and Don supposedly tried to make out with Bella). And when you read Mortimer's memories about Bella being abducted by aliens, the memory isn't red but green. Green memories in The Sims 2 are known to be positive memories, so with Mortimer's memory of Bella being taken away for good, it was positive to him. That's my theory anyway.
