I probably might get many disagreements from this but there is a chance that Bella ''could'' of been in a failing marriage with Mortimer
Due to the failing marriage, it was possible Don tried to get Bella to cheat on him ((mostly due to the marriage and Don supposbly tried to make out with Bella))
And when you read Mortimers memories about Bella being aducted by aliens, the memory isnt red but green.
Green memories in The Sims 2 are known to be positive memories, so with Mortimers memory of Bella being taken away for good, it was positive to him. Thats my theory anyway
