I recently recieved a notification from Chris Hatch, the guy who got the big boss working, and he confirmed that purple faced person is NOT indeed the Big Boss. It is just some typical junk EA left over. But the game DOES in fact use it for NPC's who get generated. This can be proven by checking any Headmaster and you will see his elder picture.
