My Journalist Sim (TS3) wrote a negative review of a movie at the local theater and got banned from the premises. She bought out the other owners, but is unable to unban herself. Moral of the story? Buy out owners before writing negative reviews (don't know whether this would actually work or not) or only write positive reviews, which don't do much for your career.
