In ''The Sims 3'', the way elder Sims die of old age is a bit different from ''The Sims 2''. I'm pretty sure I've read this somewhere else too, but I forgot where. Once an elder has their age on the limit, each day, there's a chance they will die of old age (ex: 14% each day in Normal span, 30% in Short, and so on). This is why elders ''may not'' die at the same day, simply because they have the chance to survive another day. Achieving the marathon challenge reduces the percentage by 25%, meaning they have less chance to die each day, not necessarily expand their age. Does the lifespan setting affect NPC's too? My family tree is really big because I've been playing the same family for a lot of generations and one character died of old age but another character who is two generations above her is still alive aparently.

In The Sims 3, the way elder Sims die of old age is a bit different from The Sims 2. I'm pretty sure I've read this somewhere else too, but I forgot where. Once an elder has their age on the limit, each day, there's a chance they will die of old age (ex: 14% each day in Normal span, 30% in Short, and so on). This is why elders may not die at the same day, simply because they have the chance to survive another day. Achieving the marathon challenge reduces the percentage by 25%, meaning they have less chance to die each day, but not necessarily expand their age. Nikel Talk Vote! 07:06, January 18, 2013 (UTC)
