I agree that this debug object can cause problems. I've looked at all of these objects and my conclusion is that most of their functions have been created to solve ''one specific issue'' that its developer faced. They do not work well if used in a different neighborhood or game version, they do not check for errors, or fail gracefully. Often a function will do something more than its title would suggest.

A better replacement for all Maxis debug object is a mod, such as the InSimenator, which is well written, efficient, small and provides more functions. And most importantly, is designed to work in all games. InSimenator alone does not do everything Maxis objects do, however.

Common wisdom dictates that mods require experience and are dangerous. These debug objects are much more dangerous.
