:You're right. The link was incorrect. I've fixed it. Thanks for the heads up! ==Magnolia Promenade is not a world?==
The reference 3 link is broken.
I'm not entirely convinced even if Graham said it himself. What exactly is a standalone neighborhood? He could very much just make up a term, but if the game treats Magnolia Promenade as a world in the files, then it is a world—a world with only 1 neighborhood. My friend has GTW, so I might be able to check this one day... Unless somebody else wants to check it out for me. :The whole definition of "world" versus "neighborhood" is shaky at best. If Maxis calls it a neighborhood, then in my mind it's a neighborhood. If they call it a world, it's a world. This is, after all, the reason we changed TS3 neighborhoods to TS3 worlds - because Maxis was calling them worlds instead of neighborhoods. Additionally, let's consider for a second what it would mean if Magnolia Promenade is a world... it would not only be the smallest world ever (by far), it would also be smaller than any neighborhood - standalone or otherwise - in any game in the whole series. It seems like a pretty big stretch to call 4 lots a world. -- LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 13:18, April 10, 2015 (UTC)
::I don't think it matters if it's the smallest world in TS4 series, even if it only contains 1 neighborhood. If the game treats it as a world, then it's a world, even if the SimGurus make up "standalone neighborhood." Sure, we did separate TS1, TS2, and TS4 into neighborhoods, and TS3 and TS4 into worlds, but Magnolia Promenade's scope is within TS4 only. We can't use the same statements that separated neighborhoods VS worlds between different series with this one. The case is different. :::Functionally, Magnolia Promenade acts like a neighborhood, not a world. From what I've read, it was intended to be another neighborhood in Willow Creek (which would make sense, given the design of the neighborhood), not a standalone neighborhood. To make the distinction that Magnolia Promenade is simply a "single-neighborhood world" is to define a neighborhood as always being a subset of a larger world. There's no real reason to make that distinction, as the definition of M.P. as simply a standalone neighborhood is perfectly acceptable, and even accurate given how M.P. functions. And as if this isn't a good enough reason, official canon also defines it as a neighborhood. It is not our job to redefine these terms to our will, and it is the prerogative of the producers to define these terms as they wish. -- LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 17:35, April 11, 2015 (UTC)
::::I guess it's pretty hard to argue about that, considering I don't have any evidence to support my arguments... I guess it could stay as a "standalone neighborhood" as it is now. Could it be included in a navigation template like for TS3 worlds? It was added in TS4 worlds navigation template, but removed shortly. Maybe we could have a TS4 neighborhoods navigation template instead? :::::If we have pages for the neighborhoods in the other worlds, then we could have a TS4 neighborhoods nav template as well as a TS4 worlds template. I don't think it would belong on the TS4 worlds template since it isn't a world, unless we somehow combined the TS4 worlds and neighborhoods onto one template. -- LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 17:21, April 14, 2015 (UTC)
::::::Yeah. It would be inconsistent to include it in the world template. If we are to combine worlds and neighborhoods into one nav template, I suggest we not use TS3 world nav style because it would consume so much space for images (let's consider any future EPs). I think it's better to have it like Opp-nav or something. :::::::Yes, if combined the images would cause a problem. I'm not really set one way or the other as to whether there should be separate templates. As you say, future expansions will raise the number of worlds, and if most worlds are composed of multiple neighborhoods, eventually we're going to have a list of dozens of TS4 neighborhoods. - LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 17:32, April 14, 2015 (UTC)
