As of July 17, 2011, attempts to visit TheSims2.com have resulted in a screen with color bars and a message saying that the site is closed for maintenance but as of August, the error page similar to The Sims 3 website appears. Attempts to visit sub-sections such as the BBS or [[The Exchange#The Sims 2|the Exchange]] have failed. It appears that game patches can be downloaded from [[SimPrograms]]. Furthermore, the "You are not authorized to view this page" will appear if the user tries to access the UK website, this error is similar to IE6. Other sites such as [http://theurbz.ea.com The Urbz: Sims in the City website] also cause this error. This has caused people to believe that EA has shut down all outdated sites.
