The Sims Wiki develops most effectively when users are willing to '''be bold''' in making edits, making improvements or fixing problems. The Sims Wiki is not only open to the idea of bold editing, we encourage it. ''We want you to be a bold editor!'' If you see something that you can fix, go ahead and fix it! If you see something that you can improve, go ahead and improve it! You don't have to ask for permission and you don't have to hold a discussion about it (usually). You couldcan even [http{{fullurl://sims.wikia.com/wiki/The_Sims_Wiki:Be_bold{{{page|{{FULLPAGENAME}}}}}}}?action=edit edit this page] if you can identifyfind some way to improve it.

Bold edits aren't always the best edits, but often making one bold edit can pave the way for future edits to build on the first one, improving the page over time. Keep in mind that no article is perfect, and no edit needs to be perfect, either. Editors making bold edits should not be upset or discouraged if their bold edit is reverted or deleted. If this should happen, it may be wise to discuss the issue on an appropriate talk page.

While we strongly encourage boldness in making improvements and fixing problems, editors should consider cases where it might not be such a good idea to be excessively bold.

Generally, editors shouldn't boldly edit templates or complex pages if they don't understand how the code for those features work. Fortunately, if an editor does make a mistake, it can be easily and harmlessly reverted, but just the same, it's best to make test edits to important templates in a sandbox rather than publish broken templates.

Many pages in the ''The Sims Wiki'' namespace (pages which begin with "The Sims Wiki:", like this page) are open for editors to edit. However, the content of these pages are often determined by [[Forum:Community discussions|community consensus]], so boldly editing the ''content'' of these pages might not be wise. However, if an editor is acting in good faith and attempting to improve a page, the editor should not be penalized for acting boldly, though the bold edits might be reverted. Note that making minor spelling and grammar corrections are almost always allowed, as long as they do not change the ''context'' of the page.

Editors are typically not allowed to edit other user's userpages. Aside from this, user-owned [[The Sims Wiki:Fanon|fanon]] content should not be edited by other users, except to correct spelling, grammar or page coding errors.
