== Policy on Writing and Editing [[Player stories]] ==


I would like to introduce some policy on writing and editing [[Player stories]]. Should the player stories submitted be left as-is or edited? Anything inappropriate or that contradicts existing policy should be removed immediately of course. But a lot of the stories have misspellings, bad grammar, etc. I think we need some guidelines on how much we (the editors) are allowed to edit, yet still resemble the personal style of the writer, which is the whole point of having these sections.

Points to consider:
* How long should a story be?
** We don't want them to write a novel. I suggest one paragraph, 3 to 5 sentences.
* Should links to other premade Sims be included if mentioned
** I don't really care, but it would mean a lot of editing
* Spelling & Grammar
** I think this should be corrected
* User tags, signatures, etc.
** I think these should be kept
* Personal opinions
** I think these should be kept

Any other suggestions?

:I think that's a great idea. Before I had an idea that the player stories be put on the talk pages but it would require a lot of work. However with the user tags and signatures I believe that they should put <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> after their player story whether they are a anonymous user or not. If a player links to other pre made sims that should be okay to. :I had another idea. That of placing the player stories on a subpage of the character's page, ex. [[Bella Goth/player stories]]. That way the stories are on their own page and can even be placed in a "Player stories" category. The {{[[Template:Sim|Sim]]}} can be edited to automatically link to the subpage as well. ::Over the next couple of days I'm going to be updating the {{[[Template:Sims|Sim]]}} to incorporate the idea stated in an earlier message as well as some other things. Missing premade families

Where are the families from the colleges, like Roxie Sharp and the sorority girls and such? They are still kind of a premade family, I think they should be included.

Characters of Pleasant Valley

There is "no trustworthy" link that cites the characters of The Sims 3 and should be confirmed by EA or The Sims 3. That information is speculation thus making it misleading and should be deleted! I'm going to delete it if someone else doesn't create a new article which says 'Speculation on The Sims 3' and put that worthless infomation in it.

The title in the article with most of the speculation in it is 'Neighborhood Continuity'

F.Y.I. when questions were mentioned to The Sims 3 in relation to characters they typically responded with petty answers and could not confirm anything buy they did say "we're giving the game a fresh start,a new leap, in hopes for the sucess of the title"

Mrs. Crumblebottom is the only character confirmed in the game as of 22/7/08 - not nesseceraly meaning shes the only one lead onto this title but is confirmed.

You are right that speculation about The Sims 2 characters should not be included in the article. It has been removed. You must be a bit lenient as the game is still under developement and we have placed a disclaimer at the top of the page to that effect. HELP ME!!!!!!!!

I need help! my sims game stop working at my house, couldnt play it at all i had the seasons,pets, and freetime, well the game just stopped working, which left me to playing at realtives when i went there (you dont know my life) well at there house, cas isnt working! the loading screen pops up and then it just goes right back to neighborhood! HEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPPP MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! please!

First, this is not a help site, it is an information site. If you are having problems you should contact The Sims 2 Tech Support, search help forums for other people who have the same problem or can help you. The first thing I would check would be downloads. Ghosts of of Goth House TS1

Grandpa, grandma, auntie, uncle, cousin, vegas, bratty & boy? Who are those people that was buried in the Goth home in Neighborhood 1? If anyone knows, please tell me.

What's the deal with half-siblings in TS2?

In TS2, the Curious brothers are not shown as related to Lola and Chloe Singles, even though they share a father, Glarn Curious. But in another neighborhood, this one Sim fathered children with four other womenn, and I moved all of the women and their children together and the children showed the other children as their family. They too share a father. Do they have to know eachother to show their half siblings as family? Or did Maxis intend for the Curiouses and tLola and Chloe not to be related? -donlothariomustDIE

New Sim Template

I've made some changes to the Sim Template, putting more code into the template instead of having the user enter it, adding optional parameters, etc. This has, however, caused some problems on pages that uses the old template, mostly extra code around images and category markup appearing at the top of the article. If you see a page like that, please remove the extra markup (i.e. "[[", "]]", "[[Image:", etc.). Categories can also be removed for sex, aspiration, sign, age and neighborhood as they are now part of the template but they will not sort properly without {{DEFAULTSORT:last name, first name}}, so that should be left on or added to the page.

Proposing New Sim Bio Template

With the upcoming release of The Sims 3 we need to be able to display a Sim's information from all three games. I have designed a series of templates and you can see them at work here. Please tell me what you think of them and any ideas you have for The Sims 3 template. help updating the sims 2 cheats page

the sims 2 README has a list of most cheats; (the ones they intended players to use) however i do not know how to properly format the text. i also do not know what cheats they didn't include, other than the testing cheat (the one that acivates shift click functions). :

The Sims 2 Apartment Life Cheats:


(The Sims 2 Apartment Life Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

changelotzoning [residential | community | apartmentbase] This changes the zoning type of the lot. Before rezoning a lot using this cheat, make sure there are no Sims currently living in the lot. To use this cheat, enter the lot that you would like to rezone, and then enter the cheat, choosing one of these zoning options.

Note that zoning a beach lot into an apartment lot will severely corrupt the ocean and lot terrain and is strongly not recommended.

printLotClass This prints the lot's class (low, middle, or high) as well as the corresponding numerical lot class value.

changeLotClassification [low | middle | high] This changes the lot classification of the lot. The lot will remain this classification until the following cheat is used.

clearLotClassValue This clears any "changeLotClassification" cheat used on the lot and sets the lot class to the correct calculated value.


The Sims 2 FreeTime Cheats:

modifyNeighborhoodTerrain [on | off] This allows you to alter the neighborhood terrain by raising or lowering it. To use this cheat, be in the neighborhood view, then enter the cheat "modifyNeighborhoodTerrain on" (without the quotation marks), and click over the area you would like to change. To select a larger area, click and drag the cursor to highlight the desired area. Press [ or ] to raise or lower the terrain by one click and press \ to level the terrain. When you're finished, type “modifyNeighborhoodTerrain off” in the cheat box (again, without the quotations).

The Sims 2 Bon Voyage Cheats:

AddneighbortoFamilycheat [on/off] It enables an interaction on non-controllable Sims to add them to your family

Forcetwins When a Sim is pregnant, this Sim has to be selected and the cheat entered. The Sim will automatically deliver twins.

Plumbbobtoggle [on/off] This disables the plumbbob. (Great for Moviemakers)

Wall Placement Restrictions Removed Cheat -Pressing the CTRL + ALT keys while trying to place the object will activate the cheat. -Placement rules on walls will be removed. You will be able to place any wall object on a wall already occupied by another object.

The Sims 2 Nightlife Cheats:

familyfunds NAME XXXX Assigns money value to a family from the neighborhood level.

roofslopeangle [15-75] Adjust angle of all roofs on the lot

showHeadlines [on/off] (for all Sims on lot) Needed for moviemakers. Makes all thought balloons, speech balloons, and ++/-- type headlines hidden/visible.

unlockCareerRewards (for selected Sim) For the currently selected Sim, they immediately gain access to all career reward objects in the catalog.

maxMotives (for all Sims on lot) Maxes out the motive bars of all Sims currently on the lot. (Controllable and uncontrollable).

motiveDecay [on/off] (for all Sims on lot) Stops/Starts motive decay.

aspirationPoints num (for selected Sim) Applies the chosen aspiration level to the currently selected Sim.

lockAspiration [on/off] (for all Sims on lot) Stops aspiration decay/gain.

aspirationLevel [0-5] (for selected Sim) Gives a big chunk of aspiration reward points to the currently selected Sim.

agesimscheat on Enables aging cheat when shift clicking on other Sims

setLotLightingFile [filename] Allows the player to create a new lighting file with specific lot lighting values. Used to make special light settings per lot.

The Sims 2 University Cheats:

changeLotZoning [residential | community | greek | dorm | secretsociety]: changes the zoning type of the lot. Before rezoning a lot using this cheat, make sure there are no Sims currently living in the lot. To use this cheat, enter the lot that you would like to rezone, and then enter the cheat, choosing one of these zoning options.

boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled true/false: enables build/buy mode tools that would normally be disabled when in a dorm lot.

boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true/false: allows users to rotate any object in 45 degree increments instead of the 90 degree increments used for most objects.

The Sims 2 Cheats:


help: lists all the cheats in the game.

help [cheatname]: displays specific information about the cheat.

exit: closes the cheat window.

expand: expands or contracts the cheat window.

moveObjects on/off: removes footprint limitation for all object placement in Buy Mode and Build Mode. Removes limitations placed on hand tool for when objects are in use, or are normally non-movable objects. This is known to cause issues with game elements, routing, hidden object generation and manipulation, etc. Note that using this cheat allows you to delete objects that normally cannot be deleted, such as Sims, the mailbox, and the garbage can. If you delete these objects, there is no way to get them back, so be careful!

aging -on/off: prevents Sims from aging. This can disrupt the carefully tuned gameplay balance, and will prevent little Johnny from ever growing up, so treat this cheat with care as well.

autoPatch -on/off: This cheat lets you re-enable notifications when there is a game update available for The Sims 2. Just turn Autopatch on and go to the Custom Content Browser (the little snowflake button on the UCP in the neighborhood). If there's an update available you'll be asked whether you want to download it.

slowMotion [value]: The slowMotion cheat takes one parameter: the "slowness" setting (such as slowMotion 4). This value ranges from 0 to 8 where 0 is normal speed and 8 is the slowest speed.

boolProp enablePostProcessing true/false: enables the use of postprocessing cheats (see below); very useful for movie making (also see below). Please note that you must have a video card that can handle pixel shaders in order to successfully use this cheat. If you use the cheats and you don't have pixel shaders, the screen will most likely go partially dark, and will not come back until you turn off enablePostProcessing. If you turn on postprocessing, and you turn on cinematics, and a cinematic plays, you may also experience unwanted graphical glitches.

bloom [r g b x] (rgb is color) (x is the bloom amount) [0.0 - 1.0]: This cheat adds a blur effect, like a sitcom flashback moment. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

vignette [centerX centerY X] (X is the vignetteing factor) [0.0 - 1.0]: Adds a blur effect from the specified center. Using "vignette 0.5 0.5 0.5" should put some blurry bits at the edge of the screen. Vignette 0.5 0.5 1.0 is maximum edge blurriness. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

filmGrain [val] [0.0-1.0]: This cheat makes the screen grainy. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

letterBox [val] [0.0-0.4]: Adds a letterbox effect to the view. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

Featured Article and Stories W/ pICS

Hi, I know I am new but I think I have some ideas that you might like. First of all: um, can we please change the featured article? I've been frequenting the site since August and it's been up since then-perhaps longer. It probably looks like the site administrators aren't paying attention to the wiki. And that's a turn off. Well, to a lot of people. Also, I was thinking we could have a section of the wiki where ordinary users like me could post stories with pics. Sites like insimenator.net and magicbeanssims have things like that, I think you might know what I mean. They're sort of like blogs. But anyway, if you don't , check out insimenator.net and magicbeanssims.com. On these things people write stories about their neighborhoods, legacies and ceratain families or Sims. They put pictures from the pictures they take in their games a lot of the time. So I think it would be a good idea to put a section like this up. PS, sorry about the typos because my computer is really sloww and it takes a long time to rite som sometimes i add extra letters or putt hings in all caps or something. So, I am sorry. First, you are right, it is time to change the featured article. I will start a discussion to take suggestions. I would like to put a stop to your thinking that this is not an active wiki. If you look at the recent changes page you will see that I am on almost everyday, most likely several times a day. Second, players are able to post player stories of premade sims, and CAS sims already. If users like they can write stories of their sims, but I think users should use their user page or a sub-page for those. -- a_morris 04:41, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
