::I think 2 months is enough if the user never appear ever again. Users who don't regularly edit, but are still active and appear on some occasions (I can note The Black Scorpion for example) are still valid for nominations. That's what I think. == NickelNikel Featured Editor form August - October ==

I was just wondering why is Nikel still featured editor even if its past August- Why has no one changed it? 109.151.67.5 (talk) 14:42, October 12, 2012 (UTC)

I'm just wondering if a user could still be nominated to be a featured editor if the user that nominated them got placed under an indefinite block? For example, if a user was a disruptive user and they randomly nominated a user, and then the nominating user got blocked for whatever reason. Would the user that was nominated still stay on the list of candidates, or would the nomination made by the indefinitely blocked user need to be removed. I'm pretty sure it's no big deal, but I was just wondering all the same. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:57, May 26, 2015 (UTC)
:I think this would be something that we can discuss here, since to my knowledge this has not occurred before. Based on my reading of the page, there is no rule that says a blocked user's nominations or votes are discarded. Specifically, the rules say, "[a] nominated user will remain on the list of nominees until they either become ineligible, or are selected as a Featured Editor." But, if we want to have it so that indefinitely blocked users have their nominations and/or votes disregarded, we can decide that here and now. -- LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 13:31, May 26, 2015 (UTC)

:::I believe that the nominations/votes of indefinitely blocked users should not be discarded, as they are technically not bad-faith edits. Even if the nominator/voter is permanently blocked from the wiki, their nomination/vote should remain because the nominee is another user who probably has not been blocked and so legitimately deserves to become featured editor if the community at large agrees. Unless, of course, the blocked nominator has nominated themselves or the nominee also happens to be blocked, in which case the nomination should be removed. ―The Tim Man (Infinite Histories • Galactic Crucibles • The Sims Wiki • AltHistory • Contribs) 13:48, May 26, 2015 (UTC)
::::I feel like Tim has a good point. A nominee can't (or at least shouldn't) win based only on the nomination or vote of a blocked member; a nomination needs support from others to win. Taken along with the way that K6ka's bureaucrat nomination was handled, I think that maybe the best solution is to disregard an indefinitely blocked user's nomination, but keep the nomination as valid if another user is willing to "adopt" the nomination as their own. I don't know if that RfB sets an actual precedent or not, so I think the matter is still undecided. But I do agree with Tim's sentiment regarding keeping good-faith actions. - LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 14:27, May 26, 2015 (UTC)
:::::I agree with what has been said in the above two comments, and whether or not I agree with what K6ka has said, really depends on the user that has been nominated in question. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 02:34, May 27, 2015 (UTC)
::::::This is a very good question. I agree with Tim that a user has no control who decides to nominate them. Or rather they shouldn't as that is part of the rules, <s>I think</s> I know because I just checked and it says "Users cannot nominate themselves for Featured Editor, and they cannot ask or encourage another user to make a nomination on their behalf". And it also makes sense that a user should need the community vote to win. I can see that happening with RfB and like nominations because it seems that there are several people who will join in those discussions. But those nomination have an expiration date where these nominations don't. That means that if there were to be a time when there is only one nomination left (and no one adds any new ones) that the nominatee could easily win by default. Or is that not possible? I admit that I don't really participate in Featured Editors because I don't really interact with many other editors except for a few times here and there, so I don't feel that I know them well enough to vote, much less nominate. -- Icemandeaf (talk) 03:01, May 27, 2015 (UTC)
:::::::It's been over a month since anyone commented on this, but K6ka has just removed the nomination made by a user with questionable history. ==Timer expired, but who wins?==
The Timer expired. But it ends as a draw. Who wins? Or are we both featured editor? :That's actually a very good question. I honestly don't know. I wonder if another user can answer the question as to what happens. My only suggestions would be selecting whichever editor was first on the list, selecting them both at once, or resetting the votes and waiting until next month. I can't be sure how this will proceed since I'm sure there's other users that might different ideas as to how we resolve this. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:48, September 1, 2015 (UTC)

From what I saw, Sapphire was selected to be September's featured editor and not S2P. There is no featured editor queue, like there is a featured article queue, and in practice the votes for every nominee is reset after each voting period. The votes were thus reset. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 21:13, September 2, 2015 (UTC)
:Since they tied, it seems like it would be unfair to have Sims2Player up for nomination again. I mean, it seems likely that they'll win this time around, but that's not a guarantee. So I'd rather we just pull Sims2Player's nomination, have him as the FE in October, and then increase the voting time on this month's nominations to last through October instead of September. -- LostInRiverview talk • blog • contribs 21:16, September 2, 2015 (UTC)
::Or we should create a queue to list winning nominees in so this confusion (since there is no policy or guideline governing what happens during a tie) doesn't happen again. :::I think that is a wonderful idea. Sounds like this is the first time a tie happened, so I think some rules should be implemented just in case this happens again. ::::I definitely support the idea of having Sims2Player be the next month's featured editor. I definitely noticed that Sapphire and Sims2Player were tied for this month's featured editor. But we haven't actually drawn out two featured editors in one month before. I knew that Sims2Player definitely deserved to be featured editor as well, which probably explains why I didn't reset the votes. I know that I was technically supposed to reset the votes, but it would have left me with a bad feeling if I had. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:29, September 3, 2015 (UTC)
