Tinkering with electronics and mechanical items is some Sims' favorite pastime. They love upgrading their electronic items, playing with train tables and even restoring vintage cars. Sims with high mechanical skill will be more into tinkering.

Tinkering is one of the many Hobbies included in the FreeTime expansion for The Sims 2. High Tinkering enthusiasm allows a Sim access to the Will's Garage secret lot.

Activities

Activities that raise a Sims enthusiasm for Tinkering are:

  • "Tinker"ing with objects such as the bathtub, dishwasher and workout machine
  • Restoring the restore-able car
  • Playing with blocks (Toddlers and Children only)
  • Playing with remote-controlled toys
  • Designing and playing with the train table
  • Read the "Technology" section of in the Newspaper or the "D-I-Y" magazine
