She has one grandchild via Veronika, ana teenage girl named [[Karen Helgason|Karen]], who lives with her father [[Lief Helgason|Lief]]. She is a retired Sketch Artist, but she has only has 3 points in Logic, and it seems really hard to get as high in the Law Enforcement career track (level 8) with such a low Logic skill.

Both she and Veronika are highly embittered adand both always have something unkind to say about everything and everyone, and Astrid's worst nightmare is to become just like them.
