Tom's last name, Freshe, may be a reference to the fact that he is a Freshman. When editing in [[Package editor#SimPE\|SimPE]], his [[zodiac sign]] is not recognized. When the household is first moved onto a lot, Tom is 72 hours away from the final exam in his first semester.
