The name "Tycho" comes from the Greek name Τυχων ([[wikipedia:Tychon|Tychon]]) meaning "hitting the mark". This was the name of a Greek deity. It was also borne by the Danish astronomer [[wikipedia:Tycho Brahe|Tycho Brahe]] (1546-1601).
