There are numerous '''Archives''' of past community and user conversations on The Sims Wiki. Many users, especially more active ones, choose to archive their talk page in order to keep their pages short, while still able to keep past conversations for future reference. Discussions on wiki articles and pages (such as [[The Sims Wiki talk:Community Portal|Community Portal talk]]) are '''always''' archived, and content from these pages should not be deleted unless it violates policy.

==How to archive a user talk page==

While users can freely delete anything off their talk page, it's preferable that the conversations there are saved, rather than simply removed. If, for instance, a discussion occurred on a talk page, archiving allows a user to search for that conversation long after it has been concluded. If the conversation is deleted, however, it is much more difficult to find.

;Guide to Archiving

# Create a new page on the wiki, and give it the following name: User talk:<your user name>/Archive 1. This page should not be saved yet.
# In a new browser tab or window, go to your user talk page, enter into edit mode and switch to complex (code) editing.
# Highlight all conversations that will be archived, and cut them from the page.
# Move back to the archive page and paste the cut conversations onto the page. Put {{t|Archive}} at the top of this page. Once all conversations have been moved, save this page.
# Go back to your user talk page, and add <pre>{{Archive navigation|[[User talk:<your user name>/Archive 1|1]]}}</pre> to the top of the page. Save the page.
# On your user talk page, click the link to be sure that the page was created correctly. If it was not created correctly, check to be sure that you spelled everything correctly.
