* Do not accuse others of multiple account usage

Permitted uses of multiple accounts
Use of multiple accounts on The Sims Wiki is not allowed, except:
* As approved by an administrator on a case-by-case basis
* Bot accounts that are approved by the administrators
* Accounts created to replace old accounts, as long as the admininstrators are notified of this action and the connection between the accounts is noted on the "retired account" user page

Sock puppetry
Sock puppetry is here defined as the deliberate use of two or more accounts in order to deceive, mislead, or disrupt; to create the illusion of greater support for a position; to stir up controversy; to circumvent a block; or to otherwise act in bad faith. The term "sock puppet" specifically applies to the bad-faith use of multiple accounts. Not all multiple account usage—even if the usage is disallowed—constitutes sock puppetry; the usage must be deliberate.

In the case of an identified sock puppet, the "puppet master," which is usually the oldest associated account or the person's apparent "main" account, may receive a wiki block, possibly an indefinite or permanent block. All identified puppets will receive a permanent block.

"Sock hunting"
While sock puppetry is prohibited, users should not "hunt" for sock puppets, to pursue suspected socks, or to make accusations that others are engaged in sock puppetry. Making accusations of sock puppetry undermine community trust, breed conflict and disagreement, and are often used to create more drama or to further disrupt the wiki. Users should always strive to assume that others are acting in good faith, and should not make public accusations of bad faith activity or sock puppetry.

If you have strong evidence to suggest that a person is using multiple accounts in bad faith, please contact an administrator through private message on the IRC Channel or Chat. Do not leave messages that accuse, suspect, or imply sock puppetry or deliberate misuse of multiple accounts, on any talk page, forum thread, the Administrators' Noticeboard, or any other pages on The Sims Wiki.

Bots
The Sims Wiki:Bots
Some users may choose to create a bot account, in order to perform mass edits or trivial edits on the wiki. Approved bot accounts are a permitted use of multiple accounts by a single user.

Before a bot is allowed to operate on The Sims Wiki, it must be approved by the administrative team on the administrators' noticeboard and given the proper 'bot' user flag. Bots will be given the user access level as their owner; for instance, a user that does not have administrator user rights on The Sims Wiki will not be able to obtain those rights for their bot.

Bot software should not be used on a regular user account, unless that user account is given a bot flag. Bot accounts used without approval will be considered an improper use of multiple accounts, and handled accordingly. Using a bot account to perform non-bot tasks, like participating in votes or discussions on the wiki, may result in loss of bot flags, warnings, blocks, or other actions as needed.
