::::Alright now I just sound silly, the list had updated and pages had still been in there but weren't in the first three when I checked. As well as a few pages in the Games Category which have now been removed but of course they haven't been edited or anything. So I guess everything had to be updated or something, I dunno. Anyway thanks for your help! The Career category was a mistake on my part that I overlooked! ^_^ [[User:Makiah|Makiah]] [[User talk:Makiah|(talk)]] 03:04, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Re:Check In/Check Up

It's great that your willing to help. I'm glad you looked at the sample on the Sandbox and that you like it. I believe one of the best things you can do to help is put your input on Talk:Index to discuss the issues we are dealing with right now, and possibly bring up others. If we all agree on what a refined and polished Sims Wiki is we know the common goal and can work towards that. You can also help expand articles. I like to just press 'Random Page' and find something wrong with what ever page it takes me to, then build off that. Anyway, good luck and I look forward to seeing your ideas on Talk:Index ~ Makiah 23:56, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm glad you took the initiative and did some work in the Sims Wiki. However I would like to address some concerns I have. I asked you many times to put your input on Talk:Index and get involved in the community. As admin of the Sims Wiki I fully support what the community as a whole wants. In the process of discussing the categories issue, you deleted some very important categories that the users involved in the discussion named to be kept. Sorting through your massive amount of edits I feel that you must know exactly what you did and how to fix it. So please fix the Simology category. I'm also going to ask next time when dealing with some things don't act alone and discuss them with the community first. We specifically didn't want categories to be made until we had a definite plan. Now instead of fixing the chaos you may have added to it. While I partly blame myself on this issue since the categories discussion was not on Talk:Index I also believe that you are partly to blame too with regard that had you thought of what the community wants instead of you, you would have found out. While I'm glad you helped, I'm also angry to an extent in that you didn't discuss it. Please refer to Talk:Index for this matter, we could use your input (and I mean that, you had some good ideas which I integrated into our ideas). Thanks. Makiah (talk) 22:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Alright I sound really mean up there...so I wanted to say I'm sorry for coming off as horrendously rude. Uhm you know you meet are voting requirements and if you want you can vote. I made a skin vote again just check the Talk:Discussions page...I like having more people involved! XD But yeah, sorry for that up there and I guess have a nice night! hehe Makiah (talk) 03:53, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
its quite all right, i often come off sounding much ruder then i would like to. you are right, i should have asked before i made alot of those changes. i'll be sure to post and ask before i go off on any more cleaning sprees like that. --Uberfuzzy 04:08, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Categories

I thought maybe you could help me. There are actually a few problems.

  1. I reorganized the category system but now in the main menu it only shows the Games category, is there anyway to fix that so it shows other categories like the Careers, Simology, Sims Games, and Sims category?
  2. When I was reorganizing the categories I ran into a few pages that didn't seem to want to change categories. For example Celebration Stuff and H&M Fashion Stuff don't want to leave the Games category but on their pages it clearly says they are in the Stuff Packs category. Also under Wanted Categories it has a few pages that have the same problem. I can't seem to remove the category even though on their page it says they don't have that category.
  3. Is there some special category that the main category, Sims Wiki, is supposed to be under so it's not an orphaned category?

Those are the main issues that are bothering me. Any help would be appreciative!

Other than that how do you like the category system? We made it so that everything is in the Sims Wiki category. I think its easier. ~ Makiah (talk) 22:01, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

  1. the menu is controlled by MediaWiki:Monaco-sidebar, your problem was that you deleted Games_Systems, and the menu system still has a problem with entries that point deleted categories. it falls apart and stops making any more menu. the issue has been brought to the attention of the techs. (oh, the menu is cached, so edits to it dont show up right away, the techs say, 10-15 minutes'ish)
  2. sometimes category listings dont rebuild right away when you change categories via templates. just edit and resave the page, it should force to update right away, or if its not critical, wait a day or so, the server should fix it in the next job queue run.
    1. most special pages, especially onces that deal with redlinks/wanted stuff, dont update in real time. they will update when the job queue runs, which should be roughly nightly
  3. nope, never really found a good solution for that. just gonna have to bite the bullet on that one.

categories look nice, as does the new main page. your doing very good work around here. one less wiki i need to worry about. i know its in capable hands. --Uberfuzzy 02:05, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Well I understand the menu now somewhat and the Sims Wiki category thing isn't that big of a deal to me but the pages in the wanted categories and such should be gone because it says it was lasted updated after I editted the pages out. Are you saying it's a different job queue? I'll wait another day I guess if so. Then I can complain again if it's not fixed! XD Thanks for your help. Makiah (talk) 02:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
