It must be placed along the edge of a [[swimming pool]] to be useful. Unlike the [[diving board]], Sims have no fears or reservations about using the water slide to enter the pool. However, in ''The Sims 2'', a visibly [[Pregnancy|pregnant]] Sim cannot use the water slide.
In ''Vacation'', the pool slide is known as '''The Wet and Twisted''', and costs §419. In ''Seasons'', it is known as '''The Kronklehorn''', and costs §800. Despite the differences in name and price, it looks the same in both games, except for a few slight differences in the ladder.
