A billboard in The Sims 3.

Billboards are objects found in neighborhoods. They can only be used as neighborhood decorations, and can only be placed while in the neighborhood view. While billboards can not be placed on lots, they can sometimes be seen from them.

The Sims

In The Sims, the only billboards are found in neighborhoods. In Neighborhood 1 and Neighborhood 2, in the lower left corner, a billboard with the text "The Sims" can be found. Billboards are sometimes also found in other neighborhoods. Billboards can not be placed by a player in The Sims.

The Sims 2

In The Sims 2, billboards can also be found in neighborhoods. This is the first game where the player is able to place billboards in the neighborhood. The player can place 2 types of billboards in the base game, and some expansion packs add more. One billboard is written in English, while the others are exclusively in Simlish. If Nightlife or a later expansion pack is installed, and if the player has the "Neighborhood Visibility" option to high, billboards may be visible while playing on the lot. With University, the player can make a sort of "billboards" by using the white SimGreek letters on a colorful wall.

The Sims 3

In The Sims 3, billboards can also be found. Billboards can't be placed on lots, though. In Riverview, there is a billboard with the picture of a car on it, which appears to be on a residential lot, but it isn't. Bridgeport is famous for its many billboards. Billboards can only be placed with Create a World. In Bridgeport, there are also many billboards found on buildings.

Trivia

• In The Sims and The Sims 2 billboards had English text on them, in The Sims 3, they are exclusively in Simlish.
• There is one billboard in Bridgeport that shows a car that actually can be bought.
