A Christmas tree is a holiday item available in The Sims: Livin' Large, The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack and The Sims 4: Holiday Celebration Pack. This item, along with cookies and a fireplace, is required to make Santa Claus appear.

It also appears on The Sims 3 Store as a part of the More Holiday Presents set. However, on the The Sims 3 it is only a light, and Santa will not appear if the player adds the tree to their game

The Sims: Livin' Large

Christmas tree
Since Roman times, trees have been decorated with lights to honor the gods of the harvest and light. Northern Europeans later adapted these rituals to fancy, [sic] new Eastern religions. Made even more popular in 19th century Germany, some contend the tree is really a throwback to the mythological Norse tree named Yggdrasil.

A Christmas tree is a decorative object from The Sims: Livin' Large. It can be used to summon Santa Claus. In order to do so, a Christmas tree needs to be placed near a fireplace and a plate of cookies. If all Sims are asleep, Santa will appear around 3 AM and leave a present for the family.

Christmas tree returned in The Sims 2: Holiday Party Pack and The Sims 2: Happy Holiday Stuff. It's one of the requirements for Santa Claus to appear. Sims can turn on the decorative lights on the Christmas tree. Players should be careful though, as leaving the tree on for too long will set itself on fire.
