In fact, all the Kostopouloi have names with some religious connotations: Kyriake meaning Sunday (literally "of the Lord), Athanasia meaning immortal, and Theophylaktos meaning guarded by god. Angelos Kostopoulos and Bayram Demirci's rivalry is very similar to that of the Altos and the Landgraabs in Sunset Valley, as well as the rivalry between that of the Best family and the Gooders Family, as the Kostopouloi are the prim and proper family (Well, mostly Athanasia) while the Demirci family is much more down to earth. His position as a friendly rival with Bayram partially attributed to their proximity in Kypros is particularly ironic, given that Kypros is one of the sore points in the Greek-Turkish relationship. However, it is given that they were to collaborate on Kypros for whatever reasons, which was the main point that turned the relationship between Bayram and Angelos into a friendly rivalry.
