When Barlodite turned into a young adult he became mad, as his first love suddenly died in a fire. He didn't actually love Codeyla, she just had lots of money and her family was known for being rich. All he wanted in life, after his loves death was too see his rich partners ghost.

So when becoming an adult he wanted to find something to make him mad with her, so he could kill her. Something came up, it was very small, and he thought it was great, and his insanity took over. He hit her but then let her go, bleeding. However when she thought it was over he started a fire, and it burned her.
