Drake got his coat and hat and left the building with Ridge. Drake still didn't trust Don. There was something about him that made Drake wonder. When Drake and Ridge arrived, they saw the whole public there, along with the policemen blocking out the people. "I guess they told them," Drake said to Ridge in a quiet tone. Ridge nodded. The policeman grabbed a megaphone, and then said, "People of Riverview, please step away from the area! We're handling the crime scene. Do not panic, and go back home. Thank you." The people walked away, and then Drake and Ridge made their way to the policemen. "Nice little speech, Officer Bryan." Bryan laughed, and then made his way over to the Detectives.
"Glad you find this amusing, because I sure don't," Officer Bryan said. Drake then asked, "We heard there is an interview with Cassandra Goth on the papers. Can I check it out?" "Sure. I thought you read the news today. I'm surprised you didn't see it." Officer Bryan said. Bryan handed a copy of the newspaper over to Ridge.
Following the death of local celebrity Bella Goth, news writer Nick Dominy was allowed to interview the victim's daughter, Cassandra. When asked about how she felt about the murder, Cassandra replied, "I can't belive someone would do this! Who would rob the world of such a great person? She watched out for us all. My fiance, Don Lothario, would never have killed her. He was so helpful to us, and he still is, no matter what people think. My father--"
They were cut off by a shriek as what Ridge had read aloud sank in on her. "Fiance!?" she exclaimed. "Yep. Fiance." Drake replied in an oddly content way. "That must be a typo!" Ridge wailed. "No, it isn't a typo. It's all in print. Look..." Drake pointed at the words. As she was re-reading it, her knuckles got whiter until she dropped the paper on the floor in rage. "That ******* fool! I hate him!" Ridge yelled. "Calm down! Calm down! Now, I knew there was something fishy about him. He's a cheater." Drake said, the last part to himself. After a few moments of silence, Ridge broke down crying. Drake hugged her and said in her ear, "It's okay... His loss... We have to get back to work. We have to find out who murdered Bella." Then Ridge got up, wiped her tears,started to act professional again, and then said, "Do you think we could organize a meeting with Cassandra?" "Why?" Drake asked. "Because, now that I'm not ignoring the possibility that it could have been Don, she seems likely to be informative, if she isn't implicated in her mother's death. Maybe Bella wouldn't let them marry, or something like that. We need to find out." Drake smiled at her, placed his hat back on his head, and went to the car.
