Biography
Stuck with two children and an abusive husband, Celestial is looking for a way out. Unable to leave her children, she hopes to earn enough money (and gather enough confidence) to leave Edward and take her children somewhere else.
Celestial is the youngest child of Emmanuel and Janis Manson, an eccentric hippie couple who practiced cult-like behaviors. Emmanuel was the head of the family, and Janis (formerly "Jane"), a fairy, followed him blindly. The couple believed in free love, which led to five children and, on Emmanuel's part, many affairs that also produced children. Janis knew about her husband's many loves, but chose not to act. Celestial was close to all of her siblings, except for Kharma. She shared a strained relationship with Kharma through her entire childhood.
School was a terrible thing for Celestial and her siblings. The other children made fun of them, especially the legitimate children of Emmanuel's lovers. Celestial was the only one to do well in school and earn a degree at college. She majored in Communications and graduated with honors. While at university, she met Edward Brunswick, a married doctor who had gone to the university to lecture the Science and Medicine majors. There, he developed an obsession with the young Celestial.
It wasn't long until Edward's wife died. Celestial, then happily engaged with the man who would become her sister's husband, became Edward's closest friend, caring for him while he was grieving. Sunburst, unwilling to believe that the relationship was innocent, left Celestial. Both grieving parties sought each other out, much to the chagrin of both families. Mrs. Manson, now a sour matron after Emmanuel's death, cursed Celestial and disowned her. Edward's parents were dead, but his relatives disliked Celestial and thought her a savage.
Celestial and Edward married after they found out that Celestial was pregnant. The ceremony was private, but by no means was it small. Celestial's siblings attended, bringing their large families. None of Edward's family deigned to attend the wedding, but his sister, Mary, sent a pregnancy book as a gift. The party lasted three days, although Edward was largely absent from the festivities. He went to work during the last two days, leaving his bride.
The marriage, for a while, was pleasant. Edward went to work while Celestial stayed home and waited for her baby to be born.
