Nadine's husband received a distressing phone call one morning from County Care General Hospital; his mother and step-father had been in a serious car accident and had passed away from their injuries. As per their will, Tracey's siblings were to be placed in the care of their closest living relative. Since their [[Shirley Lin|aunt Shirley]], had already passed away, Nadine and Tracey were granted joint custody of the twins.
The two moved into the adjacent apartment once inhabited by Tracey's parents, when they hit another snag in their life. Nadine broke the news that she had fallen pregnant. With both of them being under the scrutiny of the public eye, they arrived at the decision to keep and raise the baby. [[Fanon:Chad Lin-Lothario|Chad]] was born 9 months later, although Tracey showed some apprehension. Consequently, Nadine always had a closer bond with their son. While he wasn't very outgoing, he was very bright.

But seeing him grow up into the man standing at the altar, Dani realized life is too short. They sat down for a chat for the first time in years.
